Kids on Safari in Malaria-Free Eastern Cape

We recently took our children on safari in the malaria-free Eastern Cape – a perfect destination for a family holiday. Our group included six kids, ranging from one to 17 years old, most of which are captured in the picture. Of course one managed to duck and hide! As mothers we can only roll with it, let it slide off our broad shoulders and laugh, laugh loud and laugh a lot!

Finding the right place to enjoy the ultimate African safari with your family can be tough. If you don’t know where to start looking get in touch with us now! We’ve got a number of superb suggestions for you.

We particularly enjoyed our family safari at the Homestead private safari lodge located in the Big 5 Kariega Private Game Reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. The lodge sleeps up to 14 people in seven en-suite rooms and can only accommodate one group. The huge fenced garden includes a pool, boma, firepit and lots of space to play. The superb team includes two rangers and a hostess. You have sole use of one or two open safari vehicles, depending on the size of your group, and can structure your day and safari activities as you please. Superb flexibility for families. Activities include safari drives, river trips, canoeing, river fishing and guided bush walks (16 and older).

Prices are based on 10 people and the lodge is perfect for family gatherings or a few families travelling together. Families with children of all ages can experience a wonderful holiday with Africa’s wildlife.

The video is of a lovely rhino sighting that we enjoyed at safe distance as we had a one-year-old on the open vehicle with us.
