Epic Whales & Wine in Hermanus

If you would like to spot a whale then the best time to visit Hermanus is between July and November. However, this great destination near Cape Town on the South African coast is a great destination any time of year. We were reminded on a recent visit just how awesome the wine is from the Hermanus Hemel & Aarde Wine Valley!

During this visit we stayed at the Potting Shed and checked out the two different accommodation options – the  boutique three star bed and breakfast in the village of Hermanus and the self-catering apartments in the secure complex about 5 mins drive from the village in the new harbour area.

We loved the details, especially the hand painted murals, at the bed and breakfast.

We stayed in one of the self-catering apartments and had a great time. The apartments are located in a secure complex where not all properties are holiday accommodation. We enjoyed that there were permanent residents living here.

The two-bedroom apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. The bathroom had both a shower and bath. We loved the seaview from the patio and that we could walk directly onto the beach.

We really enjoyed the great sunset, going for a stroll along the beach during the golden hour and an early morning swim in the rock pools. We are amazed by the colourful sea garden.
